St. Malo
St. Malo, Louisiana was the first permanent Filipino settlement in the United States. The settlement’s namesake, Juan San Maló, was a leader of a group of Maroons (runaway enslaved people) who took refuge in the marshlands.
This series is a horror story of Filipinos living free in the new world, but what baggage did they bring? They carry their beliefs, their knowledge and their culture proudly with them. But their fears, superstitions and hatred usually stow away.
